Hello Maria,

I don't have any idea about travels with O2... During the Miami PH Conference last june, I attended a special session about travels... I can tell you that the main issue was about O2 and plane, or O2 and insurance when abroad. An american PH patient asked me to help her travelling to France and Germany. I can tell you that it was quite difficult to organise... I suppose that in Brasil it will be much more difficult. This american patient told me about her experience just after her come back to her country. Here is her testimony :
"Yes, I had a great trip. I flew into Amsterdam, train overnight to Munich, then to Frankfurt, Kolen, Koblenz, Paris 5 days and a day trip to the Champagne area-Epernay, etc. We had a wonderful time riding the high speed trains and the Thalys to Paris and back to Amsterdam. I had an AirSep portable concentrator with me which I plugged into the socket on the trains. IN France I contacted Natalie Pharm Assistance--ESPACE INDUSTRIEL NORD RUE DES ARCHICAMPS 8008-4--CEDEX 2. They supplied me with Helios portable and a tank to refill the portable. The portable has a switch to select oxygen on demand or continous. I do not have one like that at home.
I flew on KLM. They had the oxygen tanks ready for me on the plane from Houston to Amsterdam.
ON the return flight, KLM did not have the oxygen tanks at my 9:00AM flight. I had reconfirmed with them days before of My return flight. I had to wait 5 hours for the next flight. KLM had the oxygen tanks for this flight and also put me and my companion in First Class for the return flight."
I'd liked to add a detail: if your friend has a concentrator, you should be aware that the electric network is different from our. He will need a special plug and verify that the alimentation can operate with 110 V and 60Hz...
Best regards
